Recently when Counter Strike: Global Offensive and Dota 2 teams from Pakistan competed in an international tournament (WESG) in China, It was like a dream come true for the Professional Players of Pakistan. The years of hard work finally payed off and a gateway was open to all players of Pakistan.

Before the tournament many professional teams were struggling and facing hardships in competing on a big platform. Some were selected but they were not able to compete in the tournaments due to Visa and some other issues in past and recently also.

Eximious E-Sports

A great performance by Pakistani team was shown in the event, Portal E-Sports (Zalmi Portal) the first Pakistani CS:GO team who compete in an international tournament gave a tough time to the best CS:GO teams of Asia and Eximious E-Sports also the first Dota 2 team of Pakistan who defeated the well known teams of Asia and qualified for the grand finals but sadly they were not able to compete in the tournament because of Visa issues.

After returning from the event many other professional players saw hope that if they work hard enough one day they might also get an opportunity to perform and represent Pakistan on a International Platform.

We asked Abdul “HSB” Haseeb (Captain of PES) that how is E-Sports evolving in Pakistan, he said :

“Our goal has always been to push e-Sports in Pakistan. We did everything we could to make it to China. Staying months away from home, playing tournaments, contacting different organizations to take interest in our scene, we reached out everything and everyone to get exposure. I guess after making it to the first ever international, the doors for e-Sports has been opened now and I am seeing fast progression and a lot of new tournaments which is good!”

We also asked him about the future goals of Portal E-Sports, he said :

“PeS’s plan has always been to win and grow. We have been dominating the local scene for more than two years now but it’s time to move forward. Small objectives help you achieve bigger goals. Our goal now is to keep winning every local tournament/qualifier and appear on the bigger stages as frequently as we can, PeS’s plan has always been to win and grow.
